History of Shea Butter

ANCIENT EGYPT

Shea butter has been for cosmetic use as far back as history reminds us of the Cleopatra's Era. Valuable clay jars filled with Shea butter was known to be a part of the essentials on any nomadic transportation across the hot humid deserts.

The ancient use of Shea butter did not leave the Shea trees alone. Funeral beds of early kings in Egypt has also been known to be carved in the woods of shea trees. This transcends the normal understanding we have today of the use of Shea butter and its trees as well.

WEST AFRICA

It is no longer news that Shea tree grows natively in West Africa. It has been and always will be an integral part of people's lives traditionally, these trees most often belongs to a very vast community who have been in diverse ways benefited from the trees one way or another.

This butter has been used for centuries in moisturizing and protecting the skin from the solar flares of the sun, high humid wind and heat as well as the salt water from the sea.

SAVANNAH

Shea trees has been known to exist in Savannah regions of Africa as well, where they help create massive shades and also serves as essential oils in skin and hair rejuvenation.

For as far back as the Ancient Egypt era, till this present day West Africa and the Savannah, shea butter continues to be used in the protection of hair and skin in fierce sun and in the hot dry winds of African deserts.
